Wild Bohemian Wedding
This inspirational wedding photo shoot is truly boho at its most beautiful. A flowing dress of lace, a horse draped in embroidered finery – what says boho more than that?
We love the sterling silver jewelry with stones of intense blue sky hues. Recycled items used in the wedding add to the natural ambiance, and the bride and her wedding party preparing in a gorgeous cave sets the tone of the day.
Color Palettes for a Wild Bohemian Wedding
The beautiful thing about wild bohemian weddings is that they can follow a whole host of different wedding color palettes depending on the vibe you want to create. The key things to consider with this style of wedding is that it’s heavily rooted in nature, with wooden and water-based influences and in those muted shades like sage, auburn and creams.
A lot of the color palettes for wild bohemian weddings are going to come from your wedding venue and your choice of decor. Pick out two or three main hues as a thread to work from and then you can weave them throughout your wedding theme.

Budget for a Wild Bohemian Wedding
A lot of people opt for a wild bohemian wedding because it fits nicely with the shabby chic, rustic themes that are normally associated with upcycling and a lower wedding budget. Of course, you can thrift a lot of your decor and this theme does work nicely with smaller wedding parties and a less expensive, outdoor setting.
This being said, with wild bohemian wedding themes, the devil is in the detail, so if you don’t find or buy enough decor or the different aspects of your wedding don’t entirely tie together, it can look messy – so don’t assume this is an automatically cheap option.
Menswear for a Wild Bohemian Wedding
For the guys, having a wild bohemian wedding leaves a lot of creativity for the wedding suits and outfits. When the bride is in something probably flowy and lacy and you’re in a rustic bar or on the beach, being in a full traditional tuxedo is just going to look wrong.
Luckily, there are tons of suits available in more natural brown and navy tones that have the softness necessary to match the theme. The key here is to have a bit of fun and be comfortable and free – that’s what being a wild bohemian is all about after all!
Wedding Invitations for a Wild Bohemian Wedding
As with everything else to do with your wild bohemian wedding, the wedding invites need to show that laidback, rustic energy that you’re wanting to bring with your big day - after all this is likely to be the first look at your theme for your guests, and it’s critical for them to understand what you’re trying to achieve so they can dress accordingly.
Common approaches for wild bohemian wedding invitations usually include the use of natural textures like hessian and lace to really give a feel for the wedding theme as well as using watercolor style text and design elements to show the natural flow of the wedding aesthetic.
Wedding Reception Music and Entertainment for a Wild Bohemian Wedding
When it comes to choosing your wedding reception music and entertainment for your wild bohemian wedding, a lot of it is going to come down to personal preference and what you think your guests are going to enjoy and remember for the right reasons.
If you’re trying to keep the music aligned with your overall wedding theme, perhaps keep it stripped back with an acoustic or folk-based covers band who can keep that chilled vibe going but give the energy necessary to get the party started. As for entertainment, maybe have something whimsical and quirky to match the natural theme of your overall day.
Favors & Gifts for a Wild Bohemian Wedding
Although choosing wedding favors and gifts can be a tricky thing to do, with a wild bohemian wedding you can really lean into your theme with dried flowers, candles, scented lace pouches and things like that which will give your guests the feeling of your wedding long after they leave the event itself.
In terms of gifts for your wedding party, a classic gift for bridesmaids and flower girls are dainty necklaces, which with this wild bohemian wedding theme, you can tie in flawlessly. For bonus points, pick jewelry with wildflowers or leaves on them to remind your bridal party of the big day.
Food for a Wild Bohemian Wedding
Now we all love to talk about food, especially wedding dinners and wedding cakes and for a wild bohemian wedding, this is no different. For the main event, consider a natural approach with lots of leafy greens and foraged items from the local area to keep the wild aspect going strong.
For the wedding cake, wild bohemian weddings have a tendency to lean towards naked cakes and then adorn them with flowers and foliage that matches the bouquets and floral arrangements elsewhere in the wedding, but honestly, keep a chilled and relaxed vibe going and you can’t go too far wrong.
Details for a Wild Bohemian Wedding
As with a lot of laid back wedding themes, the devil is in the detail to really bring everything together and for it to look cohesive. With a wild bohemian wedding, the details should all be either nature-inspired or vintage in look – this kind of worn look together with the wild foliage should really bring the theme to life.
Think about putting wildflowers in vintage mix and match vases as centerpieces or using thrifted chairs for your reception to give a shabby chic, chilled and relaxed atmosphere for your guests to enjoy – the goal is to look like you’re not trying too hard here.
Table Setting Style for a Wild Bohemian Wedding
Much like the details for a wild bohemian wedding, the table setting style should be rooted in the fact that this theme is all about looking like this wedding sprung up out of nature and was thrown together last minute but somehow looks completely cohesive.
With this in mind, opt for mix and match crockery, vintage style glasses, and have a focus on flower and foliage based decoration for your table setting. Go with long heavy wooden tables for a more family, banquet feel that brings a community vibe and stops the wedding feeling so formal – after all, that’s the atmosphere you’re trying to create.
Outdoor Wedding Ideas for a Wild Bohemian Wedding
If there’s a wedding theme that really, truly lends itself to an outdoor wedding, it’s definitely a wild bohemian theme. With such a focus on the wilderness, flowers, nature and being wild and free, really the only venue to have this kind of wedding is outdoors near woodlands or on a wild open field.
If you’re concerned about the weather not being at its best, you can either find an outdoor location that’s near a barn for cover or go down a more festival route and pitch some longer gazebos in natural looking materials - no big, white tarp tents here, we beg you!
Wildly Bohemian Wedding Inspiration Shoot
Bohemian wedding styles don’t get any more boho than today’s wild shoot from D’amour et de deco and Reego Photographie. Set at a horse farm outside of Nice in France, this wedding editorial truly shows true bohemian styling at its absolute finest!
From Vanessa of D’amour et de deco – “Reego Photographie and I wanted to create an inspiration shoot with a truly wild atmosphere, not just pretty pictures but an entire story, an entire day of a wedding. The venue – Les Chevaux de Villeplaine was love at first sight and the owner of the horse farm made everything perfect for our shoot.
We wanted a spiritual and mystical atmosphere to begin the wedding with so we decorated a cave on the property with candles and had our bride and bridesmaids get ready for the ceremony there, barefooted and dressed in lace. A DIY dream catcher and cutlery holders were created to decorate the table using recycled materials such as an old trunk lid that we found on the side of the road. The buffet spread on the pickup truck added to the image of something wild and simple, and our wedding party used egg boxes as plates.
Wolves and horses also added to the wild, bohemian look of our wedding editorial!”
