Where was it filmed?
The show features some beautiful landscapes and epic locations; it is no wonder that so many of us have been Googling the answer to this question.
The main answer to this question is that The Pact was filmed in Wales.
But we don't just want to leave it at that. There are many diverse cinematic Welsh locations within the series and we believe each one deserves its own description.
So let's talk through all the locations used in this BBC One drama together, shall we?

Rhymney Brewery, Blaenavon
The Evans Brewery, in which main characters Anna, Nancy, Louie and Cat work in the film, is one of the main The Pact filming locations as so much of the show's action takes place here.
The brewery we see so regularly in the show is actually Rhymney Brewery in Blaenavon, near Abergavenny, somewhere well-loved by Welsh people and frequently visited by tourists to the country.
The historic brewery is actually considered a heritage site in contemporary Wales and provided a great focal point for the series.
The Welsh locations are almost characters in themselves, says show creator Pete McTighe, who credits Rhymney Brewery as one of the very best characters/locations they used within the BBC drama.
If you fancy recreating one of the many Brewery scenes yourself, you can easily do so with a tour of the South East Wales location!
The Pontsarn Viaduct, Merthyr Tydfil
Stunning Welsh scenery and beautiful Welsh landscapes were key to the production value and atmosphere achieved in The Pact.
Laura Fraser, who plays Anna in the hit series, talks frequently about this in relation to her experience of filming The Pact. She said that she "absolutely loved Wales", and quoted Merthyr Tydfil as one of her favourite places wherein The Pact filmed.
The Pontsticill Reservoir
Stunning locations aren't in a shortage in Wales, and The Pact cast and crew got to learn this pretty quickly in their time in the country.
Former Coronation Street star Julie Hesmondhalgh, who plays Nancy in the tense drama, named Pontsticill as one of her favourite places to film throughout the series, dubbing it a "stunning place".
A lot of the scenes that we see in the woods in the series were shot in and around the woods at the Pontsticill Reservoir in South Wales. This is where a lot of the action and drama in the show takes place, and so it is a critical filming location for the series overall.
Pretty spooky, too, especially if you go at nighttime!
Usk, Monmouthshire
The series was filmed in many places that seemed to blow away the cast and crew of the show, and the town of Usk is definitely one of those locations. Julie Hesmondhalgh again said that she particularly enjoyed her time filming in the beautiful small town, and it wouldn't be too difficult to see why, with the town being voted the best place to live in Wales in The Sunday Times "Best Places to Live 2021" guide!
Monmouth, Monmouthshire
Not straying far from our previous location, we have Monmouth in Monmouthshire. This small Welsh town is located near the River Wye and has a unique mediaeval stone bridge on its border.
This town is classic picturesque Wales and it is easy to see why the series's director would want to use this spot to accurately portray the beauty and diversity of Wales and its landscape.
Beautiful town, beautiful backdrop for a Welsh series.
St Mary's Church, Marshfield
St Mary's Church in Cardiff was used for a couple of scenes in The Pact, including when Nancy goes to do a lot of her thinking and contemplating. It is a gorgeous church with an extensive history dating back as far as 1242.
An essential part of Wales' history and so an essential part of this fantastic series!
Cardiff
It seems that The Pact couldn't leave Wales without filming in the Welsh capital either, and so we couldn't end our list without mentioning Cardiff.
Many scenes we see throughout the series were shot in the capital city. The director wanted the series to be thoroughly at home in Wales, and they seemed to have accomplished that job with 100% accuracy. Don't you think?
The show does an amazing job of capturing some of the most beautiful spots within Wales, and all of these locations set the show firmly in a genuine, authentic and contemporary Wales.
The show highlights Wales for how it really is, and, in terms of scenery and landscapes, it is one heck of a country!
