Vintage Bohemian Polo Wedding
A polo game and a wedding cake made with layers upon layers – these two aspects will influence many a couple toward this fun and unique theme. This photo shoot is in Hawaii as well!
Colour Palette for a Vintage Bohemian Polo Wedding
Your wedding colour palette is the anchor for your wedding decor. It can be inspired by your personal preferences and your event's venue and season. The main reason behind selecting a colour palette is that it helps you drive the visual components of your big day and ensure that everything goes according to the theme.
This vintage Bohemian Polo wedding has combined beautiful shades of navy blue, ivory, blush pink, and shades of tan. To curate a tasteful palette, choose one primary colour, or two, then select neutral secondary colours as an anchor. To top off the look, go for a metallic accent shade in either gold or silver that you can use sparingly throughout your wedding details.
Outdoor Wedding Ideas for a Vintage Bohemian Polo Wedding
A unique and iconic wedding venue can not only serve as a gorgeous backdrop but also make the wedding ceremony more enjoyable for the couple as well as the guests. This Bohemian Polo wedding is set to take place in the mountains overlooking the mesmerising view of a vast green polo field. This couple went for an open to sky wedding and let nature take charge without spending much on decor.
Everything seems to be arranged outdoors from the photo shoot to the cake-cutting. You can unwind and indulge in a laid-back, luxury wedding with epic sceneries to create a sophisticated yet relaxed outdoor venue look. If you cannot host your wedding ceremony at a Polo field then you can choose other outdoor venues like a country club or farmhouse.
Details for a Vintage Bohemian Polo Wedding
Bohemian ideology is all about celebrating earthly and divine elements and this is exactly what can be seen in this vintage Bohemian Polo wedding inspiration. This couple made sure to infuse all the natural elements into their wedding starting from floral name tags, a rustic wine barrel transformed into a cocktail and champagne bar, a field of wildflowers, amazing mountains, and floral ornaments made for the horse. Everything reflects the beauty of Mother Nature!
To beautify the classical and vintage look of this wedding in Hawaii, circa 1870 vintage chaise lounge served as a great portrait photography companion. The wooden rustic tables and white linen tablecloth accentuated the vintage style. All of these details scream effortless, laid-back, and heartwarming in their rustic simplicity!
Wedding Invitations for a Vintage Bohemian Polo Wedding
If you are planning to have a Bohemian Polo wedding during the summer season, blue will be a very suitable colour for your country-style wedding invites. A collision of blue and ivory with accents of gold will make up for the most sophisticated and chic wedding invitations. This gorgeous pair opted just for that.
If you are more into lighter hues, rose gold is also a classic colour in Bohemian style, especially when it is combined with flowers. It would look even better if you match your wedding invites with your wedding bouquet. You can select an ivory envelope and rose gold liners to create the most enchanting effect.
Table Setting Style for a Vintage Bohemian Polo Wedding
A sweetheart table draped with an ivory embroidered cloth, a floral centrepiece, a candle stand, and metallic antique pieces is a dreamy setting that we can't get enough of! How very sophisticated and gorgeous it looks with unique napkin rings, Bohemian style plates with vibrant border designs, vintage cutlery, and ivory-dyed napkins.
The long tablescape is cut out of a net fabric that is heavily embroidered with small beads and silk thread. A glass vase field with large ivory and blush pink blooms, exotic wildflowers, and greenery is perched above the table to complement the wedding style and complete the table decor.
Bouquets and Boutonnieres for a Vintage Bohemian Polo Wedding
The brides who opt for a vintage Bohemian Polo wedding use more and more unique colour palettes in their wedding flower bouquets. For this specific inspiration, the flowers can be seen arranged in a natural way to create an earthy aesthetic with dusty hues, wild berries, sage green florals, feathers, and pops of brooding colours. So exotic!
The boutonnieres are crafted in a rustic, vintage, organic look to match the bridal bouquet with feathers, berries, and pods. You can also incorporate tones of lavender and peach into the boutonnieres to bring out the groom's outfit colour.
Wedding Cake Ideas for a Vintage Bohemian Polo Wedding
A wedding cake display can't get more Bohemian than this trio! Hands down the most delicious of wedding cakes, these naked wedding cakes are dripping with personality, both, inside and out. These creative confectionaries are loaded with frosting on the inside, leaving the outer part to reflect the style of this wedding: raw and organic. It doesn't matter if you are going for a rustic-style wedding or a more glamorous affair, the naked wedding cake will forever be the top favourite!
This couple made the wedding cake experience even more special by creating three of its kind and adorning them with exotic berries and fruits. Stacked above the gorgeous ivory and copper platters, these single-tiered and two-tiered cakes look heavenly!
Wedding Dresses & Accessories for a Vintage Bohemian Polo Wedding
This vintage Bohemian Polo wedding is all about channeling effortless, timeless, and elegant style. This graceful lace gown with a plunging neckline and broad shoulder sleeves paired with a hand-crafted ivory necklace and beachy waves hairdo evokes the free-spirited nature of the Hawaiian bride. Throw in a pair of ivory open-toed heels with this long-tail gown your look is complete.
The stunning bride in this photo shoot has also accessorised her stylish wedding gown with a three-layered ivory pearl chain and a vintage-inspired handbag adorned with silver broch and pearl chain. The ivory necklace is also used as a clasp around the wrist to make for the perfect portrait prop.
Groom Style for a Vintage Bohemian Polo Wedding
Outdoor weddings require a more relaxed approach to the groom's style for the wedding. You can choose to dress as casually or formally as you like, but the fabric, as well as the colour selection, plays a key role. For the wedding ceremony, our groom chose a beige-coloured three-piece suit with a matching tie and rustic boutonniere. Casual wedding attire provides a lot of flexibility as the groom can leave the jacket and drop the tie, once the ceremony is over.
For this Polo inspired wedding, the groom was first styled in a classic navy-blue polo shirt with white pants and knee-high boots to get some pictures while horse-riding. This casual and comfortable groom style reflected the true polo vibe of this wedding!
Wedding Photography for a Vintage Bohemian Polo Wedding
This wedding location at the Polo fields in Hawaii served as the perfect backdrop for the wedding photo shoot. The smallest and the grandest of the details were captured in a few close-up shots of the vintage decoration items along with the romantic couple's portraits. The scenic view of the mountains and vastly spread green fields were made part of the pictures in many landscape photos. The 80s vintage car not only served as a great prop to pose on but also added class and modernity to this wedding theme.
The gorgeous brown horse was another great addition to make this Polo-inspired wedding shoot even better! This photo shoot was inspired by tones of ivory, metallics, (silver, copper, and gold) navy blue, and all colours of the earth.
Vintage bohemian, polo-inspired wedding in hawaii
Floral designer Debbie Hemingway (who designed my own wedding!) and Jeannemarie Photography teamed up with some wonderful wedding vendors for this vintage bohemian, polo-inspired wedding editorial shot against the majestic Ko’olau Mountains here in Hawaii.
From Debbie Hemingway of Designs by Hemingway – “A year in the planning, we decided to set our shoot at the polo fields in Waimanalo. Located on the east side of Oahu, we found it to be the perfect backdrop for our inspiration shoot. With the majestic Ko’olau Mountains in the background and the hidden, un-touched charm of the polo field, it was the perfect spot for us to create our beautiful!
I was inspired by the colours blush and ivory with accents of the classic polo navy blue. Everything was styled around a few key vintage pieces I have in our vintage collection.”
More from Debbie – “A fun, rustic wine barrel was designed into a cocktail & a champagne bar in a field of wildflowers. The Chantilly lace cocktails were garnished with a sprig of lavender. We also had a distressed, shabby chic buffet sideboard, which was the perfect way to showcase Cake Works’ three beautiful naked cakes!
Instead of using flowers I accented the cakes with exotic fruits: pomegranate, figs, raspberries, and sprigs of rosemary and basil.
My favourite circa 1870 vintage chaise lounge lay waiting on the polo field for our models to relax on. It made for beautiful wedding portrait poses.”
“For the sweetheart’s table I styled it with circa 1909 Limoges and English china from 1934. The napkin rings were made out of vintage spoons that I lovingly designed pieces from a silverware collection that my great-aunt passed down to me from my grandmother.
Honolulu’s Emi Ink designed the perfect classic polo style wedding invitation suite with navy blue, blush, and a hint of lace. Heather Saffery provided hair, makeup, and wardrobe styling for our gorgeous models. The bride wore Elizabeth Fillmore’s stunning Chantilly lace gown that we had flown in from Nearly Newlywed in New York.
As for the floral design, I designed the bridal bouquet with pretty white anemones, peonies, pods, berries, champagne roses and accented it with feathers and herbs to compliment the matching flowers on the sweetheart’s table.
The boutonnières had a rustic, organic look with succulents and herbs along with accent feathers, pods, berries, and twine.
The haiku necklace was crafted with an olive branch and ivory roses. Our horse, Miss Aloha, proudly showed off a rustic lei of garden roses, olive branch leaves and other organic foliage!”
