Top 6 Pet Photographers in Milwaukee
Unfortunately, our pets often have far too short lives, which makes the time we do have with them all the more important. It’s just one of the reasons why so many pet owners are opting to have professional portraits of their furry and feathered friends so that their memories remain alive long after they are gone.
Not only is Milwaukee the largest city in Wisconsin but it’s home to many of the state’s top pet photographers. Read on to discover 6 of the best and see some of the portraits that set them apart.
Laura McArthur Photography
Laura McArthur is an award-winning pet photographer who says that she has always had a camera in her hand. In addition to pet portraits, she also captures headshots, family and senior portraits, as well as aircraft! Over the years, she has photographed everything from university sporting matches to travel scenes using advanced lighting and Photoshop techniques.
Pet portraits can be done either on location or in her studio in downtown Milwaukee where she has a great setup. We love the period aesthetic of many of her images, which set them apart from the rest.

Dogs of MKE
Jen is the photographer behind Dogs of MKE, which specializes in photographing dogs, either with or without their humans. She got her start in photography after a friend gifted her a DSLR camera and she immediately started documenting the pets of her dog walking clients.
What began as a hobby quickly became a passion, spurred on by her mission to pet all the dogs she meets. While browsing Dogs of MKE’s portfolio, the golden tones that Jen employs immediately stand out. When she’s not photographing other people’s pets, Jen is spending time with her beloved Goldendoodle “Gino.”
Unleashed Pawtraits
Sandi Ford works behind the lens at Unleashed Pawtraits, a dog photography company that is based in Neenah. She spent many years living in the United Kingdom (and photographing families there) before moving to Wisconsin where she focused her energies on documenting animals.
In 2016, she launched Unleashed Pawtraits, and aside from photographing dogs, she also welcomes cats, birds, and other small pets to her studio. When Sandi’s not behind the camera, you’ll find her competing with her own pups in conformation or agility events at dog shows.
Stories Framed Photography
Stories Framed Photography is owned and operated by Abbie Miller, who launched the business in 2012. She was on a mission to “bottle” the youth of her kids before they grew up, which she felt was happening way too fast. Today, she is on a mission to do the same for her clients, capturing the love and connection between parents, children, and their pets.
While most of Abbie’s family portraits are posed, they still effectively tell the story of her subjects, with a relaxed feel about them. We think she’s a go-to Milwaukee pet photographer if you want to capture the entire gang in a framed canvas portrait that is sure to enjoy pride of place in the home.
Stephanie Bartz
Stephanie Bartz is regularly listed as one of the top pet photographers in Milwaukee and has been capturing family portraits, pet imagery, and business branding for more than two decades. She works with clients throughout Southeastern Wisconsin and has a knack for always making her subjects feel at ease.
A born storyteller, Stephanie Bartz captures true-to-life moments that we absolutely love. Over the years, she has collaborated with the Integrative Veterinary Service, Connecting with Dogs, and the Bark n Scratch Outpost, to name just a few organizations.
Barking Dog Images
Nadia from Barking Dog Images works as a pet photographer throughout southeast Wisconsin and northern Illinois, including the Milwaukee, Waukesha, and Chicago areas. She has a background in dog training and competing, which is what initially inspired her to start photographing animals.
Through Barking Dog Images, she wants other pet parents to have beautiful memories of their dogs to treasure long after they are gone. Her style is bright and true-to-life, with pets often captured doing what they love in their favorite parks and reserves.
