Top 5 Pet Photographers in Asheville, NC
For some people, life without their pets seems unimaginable. But the truth is, our pets often have lives that are much shorter than our own, which makes the moments we share with them extra special.
Pet photographers are tasked with capturing the personalities and characteristics of their subjects and immortalizing them forever in works of art. It’s an opportunity for pet owners to celebrate their loyal friends and create mementos that will be treasured for many years to come.

Peter Mulroe Photography
Peter Mulroe says that he discovered his love for pet photography while living in Boston documenting pups both young and old in a local dog park. He found something challenging in capturing them at both play and rest, drawing on his years of experience educating himself on all things photography.
During Peter’s college years, he assisted TTL Studios on a range of photography projects and worked one winter at the International Center of Photography in New York City where he was exposed to some of the country’s most talented artists.
Fast forward to 2020, Peter made the move to Asheville where he offers relaxed pet portrait sessions for dogs and cats.
Camilla Calnan Photography
Asheville-based Camilla Calnan owns and operates a full-service photography studio that specializes in weddings, portraits, nature, and product photography. But she’s also no stranger to pet portraiture, documenting everything from dogs to donkeys and chickens (often alongside their humans).
Camilla says that she has been taking photos for as long as she can remember and became hooked when introduced to her high school’s darkroom. She studied art photography and photojournalism at the University of Southern Mississippi and worked as a campus PR photographer for several semesters.
In 2000, Camilla made the move to Asheville and says she “cannot imagine living anywhere else.” She regularly collaborates with nonprofits and sponsors the NC Arboretum as her way of giving back.
