Love Letter Themed Wedding
The models in this inspirational wedding photo shoot are engaged so this setting and modeling session was highly appropriate. Red and white spell love and you’ll see this throughout!
What to Look for in a Venue for a Love Letter Themed Wedding
Love letter weddings can be intimate, and having them in your backyard or at a fancy venue are both great choices to complement the event. Don't think of a backyard wedding as a casual affair that only welcomes a laid-back vibe, there are quite a few ideas to transform your backyard into anything you want it to be. As for an optional venue, a stately manor home or rustic garden setting can be gorgeous.
A red and white love affair should take place under the open sky to create the perfect blend of natural, organic field and a classy, elegant wedding. Go for a venue that holds a special place in your heart and is also very personal to you. For this lovely occasion, the couple should try their best to bring a level of comfort and familiarity to their guests as well as themselves.
Colour Palettes for a Love Letter Themed Wedding
Many brides who choose to have a love letter-themed wedding prefer to have a rich, luxurious, and dark colour palette. And nothing portrays love better than the colour red! It reflects romance, passion, and strength and is also perfect for bringing a sense of intimacy and intensity to your wedding.
Go for a neutral foundation colour, just like this couple, and then throw in a dark and bold principal colour that stays true to the overall vibe that you wish to create for your big day. Even though red is a dominant colour that can hold its own in your wedding colour scheme, to tone down the intensity of a bold colour palette, white should be a perfect choice.
Details for a Love Letter Themed Wedding
This intimate crimson and white-themed wedding is giving major old-school and bookish vibes. The details are so sophisticated and eye-catching with an outdoor venue decorated with starkly contrasting shades of white and red. A rustic bookshelf is filled with paperbacks of vibrant tones and decorated with a white banner and fresh red and white roses tied along the length of the bookshelves.
Details of tan, warm grey, sunset orange, brown, and white with splashes of red can be seen in this love letter wedding inspiration board. What a perfect depiction of a romantic wedding! How lovely it looks to have taken full advantage of the raw and natural splendor. The simple design, bursting with lush greenery and brick walls, is creating a dreamy scene of a garden romance. Soft tones look exquisite with the richness of rustic, vintage art pieces.
Table Setting for a Love Letter Themed Wedding
Love letter weddings are all about a close-knit circle of family and friends so you should opt for a traditional, rectangular table to bring everyone together. Ditch the table spread and instead, lay out a crochet net table runner in white or use simple placemats. Add colour to your polished, wooden table by adorning it with freshly-plucked and fragrant red and white roses perched atop the table runner.
Incorporate shades of grey in your dinner plates and pair them with plain white napkins and silver cutlery. Customize your plates by adding the name of the bride and groom on them just like in this wedding inspiration board. And instead of going for tall drinking glasses, choose the medium-sized ones in the old-fashioned shape. To make the mood even more romantic, go for white candelabras with hints of gold.
Bouquets and Boutonnieres for a Love Letter Themed Wedding
The red and white wedding bouquet is almost a staple for all the brides. But incorporating a touch of diverse colour can switch up your bouquet game to a whole new level. You can start by picking the flowers that represent your wedding season and theme. For red flowers, your go-to option should always be beautiful red roses or you can also choose from ranunculus poppies and orchids. And for our bright whites, white roses, daffodils, and calla lilies are simply swoon-worthy!
To add a unique element, get some in-season berries and tie them up with your attractive wedding bouquet, just like our bride did. Don't forget to add bright green branches before you get your bouquet knotted with a white silk ribbon. For boutonnieres, plain white small flowers are the best. Or if you want to add colour, choose a burgundy flower as your show-stealer.
Wedding Invitations for a Love Letter Themed Wedding
Invitation cards set the tone for your wedding as they are the first glimpse that your guests get of the aesthetics of your big day. This couple chose to pair plain white stationery with rust-coloured texture to create the perfect earthy look. This wedding is marked by its awesome colours and cozy layers, and a textured wedding invite paper with raw edges evokes that.
The vintage-inspired wax seal and stamps give an old-school vibe while the bold and cursive font, as well as adorable little floral stamps, add a touch of trendiness to it. If you wish to go for a sleek look, go with a classic black background with a touch of cursive writing on it. No matter what the base colour is, personalization lies thoroughly in details.
Wedding Cake Ideas for a Love Letter Themed Wedding
Every day there is a new dessert trend but nothing beats the delicious wedding cake that satisfies your taste buds. The ultimate wedding cake is the kind that makes a statement by adding to your wedding decor theme. This couple went for an exotic, white, and burgundy cake with floral decoration.
It couldn't get much more luxurious than this with the bottom tier in white and the other two brushed in textured burgundy. The cake is topped with a fresh swag of bold blooms and greenery. An ivory-hued fondant banner completed the oh-so-good look of the endearing cake. Another option is to have a rustically refined cake by adding some gold and glitter to it as well as a smattering of dried flowers for an earthy touch.
Wedding Photo Shoot Ideas for a Love Letter Themed Wedding
Wedding photo shoots are a must for every couple to capture their magical chemistry. One of the all-time hit photo shoot hacks that works every time is to pick the right shades for your wedding outfits. The ravishing red and the elegant white gets half the job done. The natural and rustic designs serve as the perfect backdrop.
A couple's photos look extra spectacular when happiness is reflected in them. The bride flaunting her sparkling engagement ring and the groom being in awe of his bride displays the perfect intimacy for this love letter-inspired wedding. All you need is the right tone for the best photographs and even your simple poses can look stunning if captured at the right time.
Wedding Dresses and Accessories for a Love Letter Themed Wedding
Many modern-day brides are pretty versatile and many of them do not opt for a white wedding dress for their big day. But there is no denying that white wedding dresses are evergreen and traditional bridal attire. In this love letter-themed wedding, the bride looks gorgeous in a deep V-neck wedding gown. This figure-hugging lace dress that flares down the knee is heavily embroidered with floral patterns and fabric buttons that are stitched onto the back.
If you want to add a little sparkle to your wedding dress, go for a net tulle skirt with a beaded bodice and a sweetheart neckline with spaghetti straps. Pair it with white matching embroidered pumps and statement diamond earrings for a royal fall wedding look. How elegant!
Menswear for a Love Letter Themed Wedding
Since this is a classical, early centuries wedding vibe, the colours that grooms usually opt for are white, grey, and tones of brown. In this inspiration board, the groom can be seen wearing a crisp white dress shirt underneath a textured brown waistcoat, and grey pants. He is carrying an antique pocket watch to compliment the mid-century love letter wedding look. So very original!
The groomsman can go for a similar outfit with different colours; try black and white, for example. There is no need to wear a formal suit jacket because a quality waistcoat does the job just fine. A sophisticated pair of cufflinks with hints of gold in them would look absolutely amazing. To complete the attire, get your hands on leather shoes in either camel or black.
The loving type: a wedding inspired by love letters
A love letter is often a key ingredient in the grandest of grand romances and today’s stunning wedding inspiration shoot by Nikki Santerre Photography is based on exactly that. Passion, romance, a rich & luxurious colour palette, calligraphy and of course, plenty of bookish details – it really doesn’t get more amorous than this!
“We were so lucky to work with a fabulous team of vendors. The day of the shoot was calm, and really gave us all the opportunity to soak in our incredible venue and the talents of all of our vendors. We could not have asked for a better team – including our assistant and models.
FUN FACT: Our sweet models are actually engaged in real life! It was important for us to make this experience special for them, too. We chose to do a ‘first-first look’ for them once they were all dolled up and dressed. It was important to us to have a genuine moment and genuine emotions to share, as well as giving them the opportunity to relish in what their big day could be!”
