Lou Macmillan Photography
Lou Macmillan explores the natural world through photography and says that his interest in the craft was inspired by his artistic mother. While growing up in a military family, he lived in numerous places throughout the United States and abroad before moving to the Pacific Northwest to attend Western Washington University.
After working for 30 years for the Washington State government, Lou is now retired and dedicates his time to photography. He is largely self-taught but has learned much over the years from other photographers during workshops and lessons. Aside from shooting landscapes and wildlife, world cultures and architecture are also covered in Lou’s impressive portfolio.
Chris Marler Photography
Originally from Boise, Idaho, Chris Marler made the move to the Pacific Northwest where he shoots as a fine art landscape and wildlife photographer. He is on a mission to capture the beauty of our natural world and share it with others through museum-quality prints for the home.
Chris began shooting nature photography as a teenager and despite having a career as a software engineer for the Boeing Company, he managed to continually hone his craft. Over the years, he has experimented with all sorts of different equipment, new techniques, and developed his artistic vision. Now retired, Chris spends his time seeking out wonderful light and intriguing subjects.
The Newborn Artist
Julie is the woman behind the camera at The Newborn Artist, a Tacoma-based business that specializes in fine art baby portraits. She has been photographing birth and newborns for just over a decade and is somewhat of a baby whisperer, with the ability to make both tiny humans and bigger ones feel at ease in her studio.
With its calming, neutral colors, it offers a retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life and an opportunity to reflect on the amazing human you have just created. Julie has a reputation for capturing images that are authentic and beautifully detailed.
Jason Matias Fine Art
Jason Matias describes himself as a veteran, artist, speaker, and author who has put going everywhere on his to-do list. Originally from New York, he now lives in Bellevue but travels around the country capturing stunning landscape, seascape, and cityscape images. It was while stationed at the Eielson Air Force Base in the lead-up to a solo backcountry trip in Alaska that he decided he wanted to pursue photography. It was an opportunity to document what he experienced and the start of a journey that has seen him mastering his camera skills and artistic vision ever since.
