Best Fine Art Photographers in Boston
Not only is Boston a major commercial and transport hub for the New England region but it is home to a vibrant creative community. It’s here that you’ll find many of the region’s most talented fine art photographers who have had their work exhibited around the globe.
In this article, we’ll highlight 8 of our favorites and the unique styles that have become their signature.
Roberto Farren
Born and raised in London, Roberto Farren is currently based in Boston where he works as a commercial, real estate, and fine art landscape photographer. We love his striking images taken throughout New England, ranging from dramatic skies above the coastline to lighthouses illuminated by the rising sun.
Roberto is particularly skilled at long exposure shots that create a dreamy aesthetic. He describes himself as “extremely detail-oriented” and has the patience to spend hours getting his images just right.

Wendy Adams Fine Art Photography
Wendy Adams specializes in portraiture (including families, couples, and newborns) but also captures beautiful landscape images with a fine art edge. Her photographic journey began with a Polaroid camera at the age of 7 and her passion for the craft hasn’t faded since.
Born and raised in Quincy, she holds a BFA in Photography and knows the greater Boston area like the back of her hand. This is where she captures many of her landscape and fine art photographs, most of which are available for purchase through her website.
Juergen Roth
Originally from a mid-sized town near Cologne, Germany, Juergen Roth made the move to Massachusetts with his wife and is now based in the town of Natick where he operates Roth Galleries. He has participated in numerous local art events and exhibitions throughout the New England area and recently had one of his images, “Welcome to the Great City of Boston” awarded during a photography show at the Plymouth Center for the Arts. Juergen says that nature is the “ultimate inspiration” and he can usually be found chasing the light in New England’s state and national parks.
Bob Avakian Photography
While based on the island of Martha’s Vineyard, Bob Avakian is no stranger to Boston’s fine art scene and has had his work included in the collections of the Boston Athenaeum and the Danforth Art Museum. We love the ethereal nature of much of his work, with lone buildings illuminated by the moon amidst otherwise dark nights. He describes his work as an “exploration of the solitude of the night and the rural habitat” and he’s received numerous awards throughout his career, including the Photolucida Critical Mass 2013 Top 50 and recognition at the International Photo Awards.
Joe Greene Photo
Specializing in creative food photography, people, and products, Joe Greene is a highly experienced photographer based in Boston. He has captured award-winning food images for print magazines, websites, and packaging, as well as powerful portraits to be used in advertising campaigns. He also has a love of shiny objects and shoots engaging fine art images of jewelry, metal tools, and old radios. Joe is also a talented architecture photographer and documents both private and public spaces for realtors, designers, and furniture catalogs.
Keitaro Yoshioka
Born and raised in Tokyo, Keitaro Yoshioka arrived in Boston in 1982 to study at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. He won numerous awards throughout his studies, including the Boston Globe Photo Contest Award and the Best of American College Photography Annual Award.
Keitaro honed his skills working at the Museum of Fine Arts as a photographer, collaborating with well-known artists and photographing notable artworks throughout the United States. Eventually, he decided to establish his own business, specializing in architectural and interior fine art photography. In addition to being an educator, his photos have been displayed at the New Wave International Photography Exhibition in Paris and in galleries throughout New York City.
Mitch Weiss
Mitch Weiss is a renowned American photographer whose images “reflect the heritage of 17th-century tenebrism paired with the techniques of mid-20th-century large-format film photography”. While he specializes in studio and candid portraiture, he has worked as an editorial photographer for “The Boston Globe” and served as the gallery director at Boston’s Piano Factory. Mitch’s signature images see subjects set against dark fields to create a “meditative atmosphere that suspends time and focuses the viewer on the quintessence of each subject”.
Karin Dailey
With clients that have included Touchstone Crystal, Marshalls, and TJ Maxx, Karin Dailey is a leading name in Boston’s fashion, editorial and commercial photography scene. Prior to launching her own business, she honed her skills while shooting editorial, social, and product content for a wide range of brands and designers.
Her fine art lifestyle images predominantly feature female models, which she captures in both natural light and studio settings. In addition, she likes experimenting with Photoshop to produce digital artworks that mix beauty and fashion with paint and sketching.
