Details for a Unique Sydney Australia Wedding
No one wants to have a wedding that looks pretty much like everyone else’s. So if you're looking to pull off a festivity like no other, think about what represents you as a couple and create the look that fits your ideal wedding. Your love story is distinctive and original, and so are your personalities and preferences. Use your uniqueness to develop a stunning wedding design that sets you apart from others.
There’s no standard style for a unique Sydney Australia wedding. The key is incorporating your personal touch into your special day. You can also get inspiration from traditional wedding colours, dresses, and decor and put your own spin on it.
Reception Decor for a Unique Sydney Australia Wedding
Let your creative juices flow and play around with linen, florals, greenery, and other natural elements for a unique Sydney Australia wedding theme. If you want to go with traditional decorations, lanterns and candles will never go out of style. Hanging birdcages also make a statement, giving your reception area an elegant and stylish vibe.
Flower pots, greenery garlands, and ordinary wooden branches may seem like an odd combo for reception decor. But they somehow make sense and offer a cohesive and inviting appearance. For your furniture, add flair and character to those chairs with mismatched cushions to create a casual seating area.
Outdoor Wedding Ideas for a Unique Sydney Australia Wedding
Explore different outdoor wedding venues until you find one perfect for your memorable affair and that you can embellish according to your desires. You can rent famous locations, like botanical gardens, sprawling lawns, and waterfront properties, or transform your outdoor space into a spectacular area where you can exchange ‘I dos’ and celebrate with your loved ones.
Dress up your backyard with rattan light fixtures or string lights for a romantic wedding evening, or add a tea station for a chic, rustic look. Public parks and patios have also become favourite settings you can adorn with baskets of flowers and a greenery arch for a refreshing outdoor wedding.
Table Setting Style for a Unique Sydney Australia Wedding
You have a lot of freedom when styling a stunning tablescape for a unique Sydney Australia wedding, so let your imagination run wild. Filling vases with wedding flowers is a safe option, but you’ll have to go out of your comfort zone to create an out-of-this-world table setting that will leave a lasting impression.
If you have a rectangular table, a single centrepiece can look lonely. However, you don’t want to crowd the table with excessive florals and ornaments. You can display multiple centrepieces but keep them narrow to leave enough space for place settings. Or, set up hanging décor over reception tables to make a statement.
Wedding Dresses & Accessories for a Unique Sydney Australia Wedding
Although countless wedding dresses have been made and worn over the centuries, you can still make your bridal gown as unique as you are! Since you know what you want to present and how you want to look on your big day, don’t be afraid to make your wedding dress as Emily did. Unleash your creativity and pick a style that matches your personality.
But if you aren’t confident enough to do it on your own, work closely with a designer to help you bring your vision into reality. Once you’ve decided on your dress’ overall design, think about the accessories to complete the bridal ensemble. It doesn’t always have to be all pearls and sparkles. Sometimes, a whimsical statement crown of blooms and greenery is all you need for an accessory.
Bridesmaid Dresses for a Unique Sydney Australia Wedding
Who says the bridesmaid dresses need to match? There are no rules for a unique wedding, so let your bridesmaids express their distinct personalities with their outfits. You can probably come up with a guideline to achieve some sort of uniformity despite their gowns being different from each other or ensure they don’t go over the top (that’s why you must choose your bridesmaids wisely.)
Wearing a traditional white gown in the middle of beautiful bridesmaids in their mismatched dresses will surely make the bride stand out. Featuring gowns with different colours, fabrics, hemlines, and designs also highlights every wearer and ensures they’re wearing a dress they feel comfortable with.
Groom Style for a Unique Sydney Australia Wedding
There’s no dress code for unique weddings, so grooms can also show their creativity through their attire. Consider elevating the typical tuxedo and wearing an outfit that reflects your character and is customised based on your preference. It can also be something that reveals how exciting the celebration is for you.
The classic blue suit will always work, but pairing it with a bright golden yellow bow tie will add a pop of colour to your attire. The best thing about this wedding colour is that it’s so versatile and suits various outfits, from casual jeans to full suit and tie.
Bouquets & Boutonnieres for a Unique Sydney Australia Wedding
Large, fluffy, and multi-petaled wedding flowers are showstoppers in bouquets, but smaller ones, like baby's breath, carnations, and spray roses, are more than flower fillers. They can stand on their own and become absolute masterpieces. Both large and small blooms are excellent choices for your big day, but you’d want to wear a boutonniere and carry around a wedding bouquet that complements your style and attire.
Therefore, carefully select the flowers for bouquets and boutonnieres that reflect your taste or symbolise your story and love. Let those accessories speak for yourself and communicate your romantic sentiments through your floral choices. And most importantly, pick whatever you feel comfortable with.
Wedding Cake Ideas for a Unique Sydney Australia Wedding
It goes without saying that the wedding cake is one of the essential features of a wedding party. That’s why it requires more thought when deciding which design would mirror a unique Sydney Australia wedding style. There are several options for cakes you can consider, and the flavor is all up to you. The only factor that would set it apart from other wedding cakes is the overall look and presentation.
Instead of a reception dessert presented in multiple tiers adorned with intricate florals, sparkling beads, and colourful candies, try to experiment with greenery and fruits. Prepare your favourite buttercream covered in leafy vines for a natural effect.
Wedding Photo Shoot Ideas for a Unique Sydney Australia Wedding
Hire a professional photographer so you can be sure every romantic and special moment on your big day is well documented in quality photos you can look at with your spouse for years to come. Capture those bright smiles shared with your bridesmaids before the ceremony, the unique bride ensemble, and the groom’s first glance at the bride, who looks stunning in her wedding dress.
A photo of the couple holding hands while sweetly staring at each other, seemingly oblivious of things around them, is just captivating. You’ll also want a few shots of the family and friends and the couple with the groomsmen and bridesmaids in their pretty dresses and dapper suits.
Emily and ed – a Stylist’s Vision Brought to Life
Event and interior stylist Emily Sarks’ wedding with her beau Ed was an absolutely flawless one. From the dress (she made it herself!) to the invitations and event design – Emily created a truly perfect event. They wanted their wedding to feel like “Christmas day lunch, but on a bigger scale” and surrounded by their closest friends and family with Lara Hotz there to capture it, it certainly was!
From Emily – “I was careful not to make it too girly or kitsch and I ran all of my ideas by Ed. We only went ahead with them once I got his tick of approval. We organized the whole thing together!
Our friend’s Mum gave us a valuable piece of advice – she said, “coming home to a clean house is as good as a honeymoon.” We didn’t take our honeymoon straight after the wedding, so we hired a cleaner to come that afternoon and after our reception we came home to a spotless house. It was awesome!”
